Old Time BaseballThis summer go back in time to an era when life was simple, and the national pastime of baseball was cherished by many! Experience the beloved ballgame at Smolak Farms in partnership with Essex Base Ball Club for the 2011 vintage baseball season. Adhering to the rules as in 1861 games will be held throughout the summer at Smolak Farms! Players will dress the part in vintage uniforms of the 19th century as they compete with opposing teams on the field!

The Essex Base Ball Club was founded by the Danvers, MA Historical Society in 2002. The organization takes their name from an actual club that played baseball in 1859. Their inaugural match was played on July 2, 2002, against the Melrose Pondfielders before 1,000 people at Endicott Park in Danvers, MA. In 2004, the Essex Base Ball Club joined the New England Vintage Base Ball League.

During the games, guests can enjoy homemade lunch items, specialty beer and gourmet popcorn throughout the day available at the Smolak Farms farm stand! Guests are encouraged to bring their own seating such as chairs or blankets to the farm to watch the games. The Essex Baseball League will have items such as replica 19th century baseballs, baseball cards, and tee shirts for sale during the games.
