How We’re Responding to the Coronavirus Crisis
We understand that this is such a challenging time, especially for brides and grooms who were so very excited to get married in 2020. We still plan to host weddings on the farm as soon as it’s safe to do so, and governmental guidelines allow for larger gatherings. Please see below for how we can support you during this time:
- We are still booking weddings! Please email us for complete availability later in the summer and into the fall, when we hope to be back up and running.
- We’ll be putting up our three-peak tent and lights towards the end of April, and the property will be available for in-person tours as soon as it’s safe and the state has lifted social distancing guidelines.
- We’re currently available for “phone tours,” and we’re working on putting together a virtual tour as soon as the property is set back up for wedding season!
- We’d like to be a resource for those forced to reschedule, whether you had originally picked Smolak Farms as your venue or you’ll be looking for a new dream wedding locale. We have plenty of availability through October 2020, and would love to still make your 2020 wedding dream a reality!
About Smolak Farms
Smolak Farms is steeped in history. At the age of two, owner Michael Smolak bore witness to his Aunt Willie’s wedding on the farm. Little did he know then, back in 1954, that that wedding would be the start of a long and beautiful tradition of using Smolak Farms as a cherished wedding venue.
The farm has roots back as far as 4500 years, when Native Americans first occupied the land. The beautiful rolling hills of orchards and farmland span 125 acres, and provide the perfect backdrop for this very special bonding of two people. Being connected to nature and all the beauty it holds is an incredible way to start a union not just of two people, but of two families, and two lives.
The pine grove was a place that Farmer Smolak and his family held picnics when they were young, and through the years, has hosted friends and family from across the world. If those 100 year old pines could talk, oh the stories they would tell, of the many families that have basked in their shade, and the countless couples who shared their sacred vows under the canopy. Their magnitude and presence gives one pause to reflect.
At Smolak Farms, ceremonies are held under our beautiful white pergola, decorated with delicate white clematis, in our whimsical antique apple orchard.
Cocktail hour is often held in our antique barn, a true relic from years past that was once the lifeblood of our farm. As an alternative, the space around our tent and pine grove is also available for cocktail hour.
Receptions are typically held in our tent in the pine grove.
Ashley Piazza is our Director of Events at Smolak Farms. She started working at the farm in 2009, and will celebrate her 10th anniversary with the team this year! Ashley manages the entire events department, and oversees the sales, coordination, and management of all the different events we host at Smolak (of which there are many!)
Ashley started her her career in the events industry as a banquet server at the age of 22. She was promoted six times in three years, and at that time became the youngest ever Director of Catering at Sheraton. She left the hotel industry due to the long hours, and worked from home as a property manager while raising her son and daughter. When she was ready for her next adventure, we were fortunate enough to entice her to Smolak farms, where she’s been working her magic to turn it into the incredible wedding venue that it is today.
Since starting work at Smolak Farms, Ashley has made incredible strides in building out a robust and impressive events program that spans weddings, corporate events, social events and just about everything in between. She has brought the department from about 10 events a year, to almost 70 events a year.
When asked her favorite part of the job, Ashley says “I love ALL aspects of the job, from meeting potential clients, to coordinating every aspect of their event down to the tiniest detail, to running and overseeing the operation of their event, ensuring all of the details and services are delivered as promised, to the ultimate satisfaction of executing a great event. I love the people I meet and get to work with, I love the vendors I contract with, and I love my loyal, hardworking staff! We’re like one big family that operates a well-oiled machine.”
Best Farm wedding
Smolak Farms is amazing!!! I 100% recommend this venue!!! The staff is awesome and sooooo helpful!!! Beautiful scenery and atmosphere
Weather couldn’t stop Smolak from delivering!!
Ashley, Lisa and their crew were miracle makers. We were dealing with sun, rain, sun, rain and they were all over it. From ensuring that our photoshoot went without issue to going back and forth between the tent and the pergola because of the scattered rain, they helped keep us at ease and the vent on schedule. What we got was a wedding that was beyond what we could have dreamed of. You are in good hands with Ashley and Lisa. Also, the apple cider donuts are great and the apple cider caramel donut ice cream may have been the attraction of the evening.
Beautiful and Professional
We had our wedding at Smolak Farms in early October 2018 and it was absolutely perfect. Ashley was great to work with for everything leading up to the day. She was professional and had all the angles covered. We had to go off list for mist of our vendors, but Ashley worked with them to help them to understand the lay of the land. They were accommodating to all of our quirky requests. They run a tight ship, which makes everything run very smoothly, and as long as you understand that this is a working farm in a residential neighborhood, it’s a beautiful and amazing venue to have a New England fall wedding.
Dream Come True
I am at a bit of a loss on how to fully express my gratitude to Ashley and Smolak Farms. My wedding day turned out to be more than I could have ever imagined. Ashley is smart, experienced, kind, attentive and fair. The venue itself has so much to offer that you pretty much just decide on details. Everything about the venue was rustic, lovely and I received a ton of compliments on how instagram/pinterest perfect it was. Smolak Farms is worth every penny. PS – Forego a wedding cake and get their cider donuts, you won’t regret it and your guests will thank you for the best donuts they’ll ever have.
Perfect Venue for Any Event
My husband and I had our wedding reception at Smolak Farms in North Andover. I highly recommend holding any event at Smolak Farms. It’s a beautiful venue that can hold large or small events that are rustic, elegant, or anything in between. Ashley, the director of events, was great to work with. She is patient, thorough, and professional. Our wedding reception ran smoothly and our guests had a great time. I can’t thank Smolak Farms enough!
I loved having my wedding here. Ashley really made it less nerve racking for us. She always got back to us right away and helped make the wedding planning process easy. Smolak is a wonderful place to get married. I had an amazing time and have only heard great things from my guests.
Absolutely amazing!!! I got married at Smolak Farms last weekend and I had to write a review as soon as possible! My whole experience with Ashley and her team has been amazing and seamless. My husband and I were engaged for 7 months and from start to finish Ashley has been accessible, communicative and super flexible. The actual day went by without any glitches and I didn’t feel like I had to stress out about any decorations or logistics. It was all in their very capable hands! The venue itself is BEAUTIFUL. Guests loved the food from Little Neck, which is one of their preferred vendors and we also opted for the Smolak pies, which everyone raved about. Truly, a wonderful experience and I’d highly recommend. Thank you Ashley and team!!!
Wow, I don’t even know where to begin. Our wedding at Smolak Farms was on September 16th and it was an absolute dream come true! We booked our venue in 2014 and worked with Ashley as our main point of contact. She was AMAZING, made everything feel easy and stress-free. The team was great, they did an awesome job with setting up all the decor I brought to them the night of our rehearsal. We used the barn for the cocktail hour which I highly suggest (it is optional and an additional cost and worth every penny!). The lights in the barn were breath taking and everyone had such a good time. We had corn hole and other games set up during cocktail hour and over by the tent reception as well as the firepit with smores for guests. Everyone seriously had such a fun time, danced all night and everything went smoothly! I couldn’t thank the Smolak staff enough for making our day absolutely perfect. The venue is beautiful – especially for the fall. The apple trees were in full bloom and the pictures came out great!
