Whim Dinner Series kicks off this week!
With spring comes eternal optimism and a look towards the future. The weather this spring has been difficult for farmers everywhere with cloudy skies and lots of rain. At Smolak, it has caused many of our crops to be about two weeks behind the normal schedule, which might affect the CSA start this year. CSA’s are an interesting idea as originally conceived – they were created to mirror the ups and downs of what Mother Nature provides for us, and we have been fortunate that over time we’ve been able to deliver a relatively consistent amount of produce each week.
Our Whim Farm-to-Table Dinner Series is starting a bit earlier this year with an 11 th dinner added to the schedule, and we are excited about the lineup with some outstanding new additions this year. The first dinner will take place on Wednesday, June 12 with Toro, Coppa, and Little Donkey – all Boston-area restaurants in the JK Food Group, and their menu looks fantastic . The second dinner will be on Wednesday, June 19, and that one will feature Chef Will Gilson of Puritan + Co. and Herb Lyceum. You’ll want to get a ticket for this dinner before they are gone!
Annual Strawberry Festival on June 15
These and the rest of our Whim Diner Series menus are available on our website, and we sure would like to see you folks come out to one (or more!) of these dinners. In fact, they would make a perfect surprise for Dad for Father’s Day.
The third item to bring to your attention is our upcoming annual Strawberry Festival ! We’ve got lots of great activities planned, though due to the weather there is a small chance we’ll have to delay it a week. Keep an eye out for updates, and please ask Mother Nature to send warm weather and sunshine to us to help us with our crops!
