A Look Back at 2019 for Smolak Farms

As winter continues to strengthen its grasp on us, we have a chance to pause and reflect on this past year, and to think about the year ahead.

First of all, I would like to deeply thank all of you, our customers, for helping us to continue in business for the past year, and hopefully well into the future. If it were not for all of you, we would not be here.

Secondly, I would also like to deeply thank my staff for their hard work and patience during this past year. It was been a particularly challenging year for us where labor is concerned, as good help can be hard to find and retain in a very busy economy. We are always looking for great new staff to join our team, but it can be hard to find and keep good employees in the current employment market.

Where the weather is concerned, Mother Nature bestowed upon us her usual fickleness at times in 2019, as well as her calm consistency at others. We will see what she has in store for us this coming year!

Upgrades, Improvements, and What’s Ahead in 2020

We were fortunate to be able to donate to many causes throughout the past year. Many have been local, and many through our Whim Dinner Series and scholarship funds. Interesting (and exciting) to note: the scholarship we established in the memory of my sister Eileen is awarding its first scholarship this year, so many thanks to all who helped get that fund fully vested.

I will be back next month to tell you about all the new programs and enhanced ones that we plan to offer in 2020 and beyond. May you and your friends and family have a Happy and Prosperous New Year. We look forward to seeing you around the farm!

With gratitude,
Michael Smolak
