As I watched the final apples be picked from our trees and the leaves continue their annual change of color, I wanted to take a moment to reflect and, most importantly, thank all of our customers for their continued loyalty and support.
A farmer’s life is one filled with incredible joy and fulfillment, but it can also be a challenging road to plow. This year has certainly brought its share of challenges. Through it all, I am happy to say that we are supported by an incredible staff of dedicated individuals—some familiar faces who have been with us for years and others who are new to the farm—who are helping us move forward with renewed energy.
We recently welcomed a new General Manager, Farm Stand Manager and Bakery Supervisor, who are already bringing fresh ideas and positive changes to the farm. They join a loyal and hardworking team that deserves tremendous credit for the quality and experience we strive to provide every day.
As always, we want to hear from you. If you have a suggestion, concern or simply an idea for something you would like to see at the farm, please let them know. Our team is here and ready to listen. Your feedback helps us continue to grow and improve.
Next July will mark an especially meaningful milestone for our family: 100 years of owning and caring for this farm. We are already looking ahead to celebrating our centennial with all of you, and there will be much more to share as we get closer.
Of course, our family’s 100 years here represents only a small chapter in the history of this land. There is evidence of Native peoples in this area dating back thousands of years, reminding us that this land has a story that reaches far beyond our own. Today, we feel fortunate to care for a place that has become a resource not only for our town, but for families throughout the region.
Mother Nature has not always been the most cooperative business partner, and farming continues to challenge us in ways both expected and unexpected. But as we head into another beautiful New England fall, I find myself incredibly grateful—for this land, for the people who work so hard to care for it, and for all of you who continue to make Smolak Farms part of your family’s traditions.
Thank you for supporting our farm, and we look forward to seeing you this fall and winter.
