Each year Smolak Farms prepares for their Harvest Season, which takes place in September and October by hiring a seasonal staff for a variety of jobs.

  • For weekend positions, applicants must be available and able to commit to working on weekends, (both Saturday and Sunday) for the month of September and October and thrive in a fast paced environment.  We also have weekday positions available.

    BAKERY, FARMSTAND & ICE CREAM STAND:

    Weekend & Weekday positions are available

     Farm Stand & Ice Cream Stand:  Provide an exceptional customer experience at Smolak Farms.  Positions available: Cashiers, Counter Help, Ice Cream Scoopers and Merchandising & Stocking Associates.

     Opening & Closing Shift Leaders: August – December. Responsibilities: Opening or Closing the Farm Stand Cafe: Coffee set up, putting out freshly baked donuts and pastries, prepare cash drawer/register; assisting customers and other tasks involved in preparing the Farm Stand for the day and leading team members to provide our customers with an outstanding and memorable experience.

     Bakers & Donut Makers: Responsible for making seasonal pies, cider donuts and other items that we specialize in throughout the popular Fall season.

     Candy Apple Specialist: Prepare our Home style candy and caramel apples during the week intime for our weekend Festivals. Training provided.

     Pick Your Own Fruit (PYO) Associate: Assist customers who visit the farm to pick their own

    EDUCATION/TOUR AND ACTIVITY DEPARTMENT

    Candidates will be subject to a CORI check

     Tour Guide: (WEEKDAY PART TIME POSITION) Responsible to lead groups of children and adults on guided hayrides through the farm, discuss farm history and farming facts if needed, amuse groups of small children with songs or games, set up the barn for the snack, serve food and drink, facilitate fruit picking for the groups and clean up after tours. Candidate will be a warm, friendly, outgoing and upbeat person who enjoys being with people and especially enjoys working with children. Hours are weekday mornings to early afternoons throughout the busy fall season.

     Party Host/Hostess: Responsible to lead private parties, setup each event, facilitate high-energy parties, play

    games, conduct activities and crafts with party participants, make sure the party runs on schedule, supervise party participants, serve food and drinks, monitor guests experience and satisfaction and clean up after the party. Candidates will be an experienced, happy, playful, positive, sales oriented team player who enjoys teaching and educating children as well as multi-tasking. Candidates will have the ability to engage children through physical, cognitive and social interactions.

     Tractor Driver: Responsible for driving the tractors which pull hay wagons for group tours and rides around the farm. Drivers must prepare the tractor and hay wagon for the rides, greet the customers in a friendly manner, help people up and down the stairs of the hay wagon, present rules of the tractor, drive slowly and safely through the farm on pre-determined routes, and follow proper closing/shut down procedures. Candidate must enjoy working with people and especially children, possess an outgoing and friendly personality, and represent the farm in a professional and positive.

     Activity and Festival/Event Position: Festival /Event staff is responsible for facilitation of weekend festivals at the farm. This will include set up and break down of materials on each festival day. Candidates will be required to perform many duties while employed as festival staff, including leading craft demonstrations, facilitating games, selling tickets and supervising children’s play area. Candidates must be excellent with children, have high energy and exceptional customer service skills. Candidates must also poses skills to remain calm under pressure. Employees are responsible for farm guests over all impression of their visit and we want everyone to leave a happy customer!

     Parking Attendants: For busy fall weekends. Must be able to keep cars parking in provided spaces and follow instructions. Personality plus and stamina to burn for this job!
