DESCRIPTION:**Please note\, the festival has been cancelled due to weather for Sunday\, July 25th. However\, concessions\, PYO\, and hop-on hayrides are still running!**  \n  \nJoin us for our Red\, White & Berry Festival! Saturday and Sunday July 24th-25th\, we’ll be hosting a variety of themed activities around the farm! The festival will run 10am – 4pm both days. Here’s a peek at the activities you can come and enjoy: \n  \nCarnival Area\nWe’ll have a carnival area that requires a wristband to enter. Wristbands will cost $20\, which includes: \n\n½ pint blueberry picking\nCarnival games (includes 10 tickets to play games\, where you can earn more tickets or turn them in for prizes)\nUnlimited cow train rides\nFace painting\n\n  \nWe’ll also have nostalgic games like Ring Toss\, Bean Bag Toss\, Matching Games\, face painting\, and more\, and there will be a booth with nostalgic candy\, popcorn\, and cotton candy! \n  \nHop on Hayrides:\nHop-on hayrides will also be open! Tickets are $7/person\, and kids under 2 are free. \n  \nConcessions:\nOur concessions tent will have hamburgers\, cheeseburgers\, hot dogs\, pulled pork\, pizza\, mac and cheese\, and berry-themed desserts. Most recently (besides his debut at Smolak Farms!) he sang the National Anthem for a Red Sox game at Fenway. DESCRIPTION:Join us on Saturday\, November 27th for our annual Smolak Farms Tree Lighting! Enjoy a cup of hot cocoa or cider and a famous cider donut while we kick off the holiday season with crafts for the kids\, fun photo opps\, a singalong with the Zackleys\, and of course\, a visit from Santa! \nActivities in the barn will begin at 3:30pm. Santa will arrive and we’ll light the tree around 6:00pm! \nKids will need a wristband to participate in offered activities in the barn. Each kids wristband will include access for one adult chaperone (due to barn capacity limits). Additional adults can be purchased for $3. \nWristbands are $12/child and include: \n\nmake-your-own Christmas ornament\ncider donut\nanimal food\na letter to Santa\n\nIf you’d just like to attend the tree lighting\, enjoy live music\, and snap a photo with Santa\, that’s all free and open to all! \n**This year we will be collecting donations for Daybreak Shelter in Lawrence\, MA! They are in need of toiletries\, socks\, underwear\, etc. All donations are so appreciated!**

Families can come out and choose from our extensive selection of pre-cut trees. The varieties of trees at the farm include Fraser\, Balsam and Douglas Firs. \nThe lovable and gentle Saint Bernards from New England Saint Bernard Club will be around to pull them back to your car\, take pictures with you\, and make your day unforgettable! \nA bit of background on The New England Saint Bernard Club \nThe New England Saint Bernard Club was formed in 1946 to promote the betterment and welfare of the Saint Bernard Breed. The New England Saint Bernard Club has members covering a territory of over 72\,000 miles including New England\, New York\, New Jersey and the Carolinas. \n \nCurious to learn more about the Saint Bernard breed? \nAs early as 1050 in the Swiss Alps\, Bernard of Menthon established a hospice to assist travelers to Rome.  With snow drifts as high as 40 feet powerful working dogs\, later known as the Saint Bernard was used to move with the travelers. Over the course of three centuries of work it is estimated that Saints rescued more than 2\,000 lives while traveling across the Alps.  In addition to working through the Mountains\, Saints also worked as guard\, herding and draft dogs for the valley farms and Alpine dairies.  The original Saint Bernard was a short hair/smooth coat and the long hair/rough coat was not bred into the Breed until 1830. \n\nThe Saint Bernard is considered a Giant Breed dog\, weighing between 140-180 pounds for males and 120-140 pounds for females.  The Breed Standard\, created by the Saint Bernard Club of America\, calls for males to be 28-30 inches at the withers and females to be 26-28 inches.  The average lifespan of the Saint Bernard is 8-10 years and part of the AKC Working Group.  The Breed Standard uses the word “powerful” multiple times to describe the appearance of the Breed\, as the image of the dog should be such.
