Apple Crisp
Ingredients:
4 cups peeled, sliced apples
1/4 cup water
3/4 cup flour
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup butter or margarine
Preparation:
Preheat oven to 350º. Spread apples evenly in greased 13”X9”X2” baking dish. Pour water over apples. Combine flour, sugar, cinnamon and salt. Stir lightly to mix. Cut in butter with a pastry blender or 2 knives until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle evenly over apples. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes.
Waldorf Salad
Ingredients:
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/2 cup celery, thinly sliced
1 cup red seedless grapes, halved
2 apples peeled, cored and cut into bite size pieces
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice
1 tsp. sugar
Preparation:
In a medium sized bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, lemon juice and sugar.
Mix in the apples, celery, grapes and walnuts. Serve on a bed of fresh lettuce.
