2015 CSA at Smolak Farms
What is Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)?
At their most fundamental level, CSA farms provide a weekly delivery of sustainably grown produce to consumers during the growing season (approximately from June through October). Those consumers, in turn, pay a membership fee.
How Do I Sign Up?
What Is The Season?
Our 17-week season runs from June 17 through October 8. The fruits and vegetables that we pack into your box each week will vary with the rhythms of the growing season. This means that in the early boxes you will see strawberries, varieties of lettuce and perhaps some fresh cider donuts! As we approach summer, you will see garden favorites such as green beans, tomatoes, basil, peppers, carrots, summer squash, cucumbers, raspberries, blueberries and much more! As the summer winds down, you will receive the next planting of lettuce, along with different varieties of winter squash, a pumpkin for your home and of course apples!
What Makes the CSA at Smolak Farms Different from others?
The fruit! Due to our ongoing history with fruit and berries, we are able to provide you with the fruit of the season, fresh from our fields. We grow: Strawberries, Blueberries, Raspberries, Plums, Peaches and Apples. While at the farm to pick up your CSA, you can also use your 10% off CSA Membership Card on your pick up day to go out and pick-your-own fruit and berries if you would like some extra!
When And Where Do I Pick Up The Produce?
Pickup days for your CSA will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis. The shares will be available for a Wednesday or Thursday pickup from 12 noon to 6PM. All produce will be freshly picked, washed and boxed the day of pickup. All pickups will be at Smolak Farms in North Andover, MA. Choose your day carefully as it is not an option to switch days once the season has started.
How Much Does It Cost & Can I Share A Share?
Full share is $575 for the season
Half share is $325 for the season
You can share with friends and trade pickups or share with someone for just the summer if you go away on vacation. You will receive a Membership Card by the end of May. (All cards are mailed out at the same time.) The card must be shown at time of pickup.
* A Full Share CSA should be enough to feed 4 people. A Half Share should feed 2 with normal size servings. Please note that Mother Nature dictates when all crops are ready so we cannot guarantee quantities by specific dates.
NEW FOR 2015
** All fruits and vegetables are subject to availability. Substitutions of other crops will replace any shortfall of a crop that has not produced as expected.
